The Nigerian boxing team arrived in Saudi Arabia early Monday, gearing up for the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games scheduled in Riyadh.
Led by coach *Oyeleye Abayomi*, the squad features welterweight *Raheem Ridwan (65kg)* and flyweight *Adeshina Zainab (51kg)*, who are set to represent Nigeria in the boxing events.
After an intensive three-week training camp in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, the team departed for Riyadh on Sunday, ready to compete against some of the best athletes from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member countries.
The 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games will take place from *November 7 to 21*, with boxing competitions beginning earlier on *November 5*. This multi-sport event will feature *21 sports and 2 para-sports*, showcasing athletic talent from across the Islamic world.
Hon. Omonlei Imadu, Vice President of the Nigerian Boxing Federation, who visited the team during their training camp, expressed confidence in their preparation and prospects for a strong showing in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia is hosting the Games for the second time, having previously hosted the inaugural event in 2005, emphasizing its role in fostering sports development within the Islamic community.
