Bichi First FC continued their strong NNL campaign with an impressive 2–0 win over Gombe United on Matchday 6 at the FCE Bichi New Site Stadium. The star of the day was midfielder Babangida Abubakar, who netted both goals and delivered a standout performance to secure all three points for the home side.
The hosts wasted no time asserting their dominance, taking the lead in the 9th minute. Abubakar pounced on a loose ball after a blocked free-kick and rifled a thunderous strike past the Gombe United goalkeeper, setting the tone for the match.
Bichi First FC maintained relentless pressure, and it paid off again in the 32nd minute when Yunusa Abubakar delivered a precise square pass to Babangida, who coolly slotted in his second of the afternoon.
For his heroics, Babangida Abubakar was named Man of the Match by both SWAN and Sports Light Hub. The award was presented by Club Vice President, Alhaji Hassan Atana, who praised Abubakar’s skill, composure, and commitment.
Technical Adviser Abubakar A. Musa was full of praise for his side, particularly given the limited preparation time. “We’ve only had two training sessions since returning from Abuja, yet the players showed great spirit and discipline,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of taking the league one game at a time, acknowledging the long journey ahead. “We’re not relaxing. The league is a marathon. We already have our eyes on the next challenge against Kebbi United.”
Coach Musa also extended gratitude to the Club President, Hon. Engr. Abubakar Labor (Abba Bichi), for his moral and financial support, and he thanked the fans for their patience and continued backing.
