4th African Youth Games: Nigeria Records Another Medal Rush, Signals a Bright Sporting Future

Team Nigeria continues its impressive march at the ongoing 4th African Youth Games (AYG), delivering stellar performances across multiple disciplines and solidifying the nation’s rising dominance in youth sports on the continent.

In Beach Volleyball, Nigeria claimed Gold in emphatic fashion, defeating Egypt 2–0 with confident set scores of 21–15, 21–17. The win underscores the team’s preparation, resilience, and tactical brilliance.

Nigeria’s Badminton team also excelled, closing their campaign with a rich haul:

– 1 Gold Medal (Mixed Doubles)
– 2 Silver Medals
– 3 Bronze Medals

In Golf, Josephine Clement Benjamin secured a Bronze Medal, adding to Nigeria’s growing medal tally, while in Swimming, Aidan Dumuje Abili clinched Bronze in the 50m Backstroke with a gritty podium finish.

Meanwhile, in Table Tennis, Nigeria advanced to the Semi-Finals of the Mixed Team event, defeating Tunisia in a thrilling encounter. The team is now set to face hosts Algeria in a high-stakes semifinal, keeping medal hopes alive.
