The 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group stage draw delivered a blockbuster lineup, featuring seven former African champions and the reigning title-holders, promising a fiercely competitive tournament.
The spotlight shines on Group A, where reigning champions Pyramids FC (Egypt) will face Moroccan giants RS Berkane in a high-stakes rematch. The two clubs recently clashed in the CAF Super Cup, with Pyramids narrowly winning 1-0. They are joined by Nigeria’s Rivers United and Zambia’s Power Dynamos to complete a captivating group.
Group B is anchored by Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly, a record 12-time winner, who will meet Tanzania’s Young Africans, Moroccan champions AS FAR, and Algerian two-time champions JS Kabylie —a collection rich in history and rivalry.
In Group C, perennial contenders Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) face off against Sudan’s Al Hilal, Algerian MC Alger, and DR Congo’s St Éloi Lupopo, each with passionate fan bases and storied histories.
Group D features four-time winners Espérance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia) alongside Tanzanian Simba SC, Angolan Petro de Luanda, and Malian Stade Malien, promising heavyweight clashes throughout the competition.
The group stage kicks off on the weekend of 21–23 November 2025, with two matchdays played before the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. The competition pauses during the continental tournament and resumes on 23–25 January 2026, with the knockout phase starting 13 March 2026.
The tournament’s stakes are high: winners will receive USD 4,000,000, while runners-up take home USD 2,000,000.
