Rugby is set to take center stage at the 27th Nigeria University Games (NUGA), happening at the University of Jos, Plateau State, from November 6 to 16, 2025. This is a major win for the sport, and Dr. Ademola Are, President of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), is thrilled.
Approved Sports for NUGA Games are Rugby, Tennis, Table Tennis, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Handball, Judo, Taekwondo, Scrabble, Swimming, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Boxing, E-sports, Rowing and Yachting- Karate, Beach Volleyball, Squash.
Dr. Are praises the tireless efforts of stakeholders who advocated for rugby’s inclusion, saying, “This is encouraging and the reward for consistent efforts. We must continue to project the sport until it gets the recognition it truly deserves.”
The NRFF Secretary, Victor Chinedu Osuoha, commends stakeholders for their exemplary conduct during the federation’s election, marking a significant departure from past controversies.
