Jorge Jesus has officially been named the new head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, succeeding Italian manager Stefano Pioli at the helm.
The 70-year-old Portuguese tactician brings a wealth of experience, having most recently managed Al Nassr’s domestic rivals Al Hilal SFC, where he secured a domestic treble in the 2023/24 season—winning the Saudi Pro League, King’s Cup, and Saudi Super Cup.
At Al Nassr, Jesus will reunite with compatriot and global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently extended his stay with the club until 2027. The appointment signals a high-stakes season for Al Nassr, who are also set to compete in the AFC Champions League Two™️ 2025/26.
Jesus left Al Hilal following their semi-final exit from the AFC Champions League Elite™️ 2024/25. Despite the continental disappointment, his tenure at the Riyadh-based club was widely considered a success.
In addition to his time in Saudi Arabia, Jesus has coached top clubs including Benfica and Sporting CP in Portugal, as well as Flamengo in Brazil, with whom he won the Copa Libertadores in 2019.
His appointment is expected to further intensify competition in the Saudi Pro League, as Al Nassr aims to challenge for both domestic and continental glory under his leadership.
