Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin Football Club returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Solution FC in the Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday eight fixture played on Sunday afternoon at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbow, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin, Kwara State.
After four consecutive defeats, which saw the team drop to the relegation zone with six points from seven matches, ABS came into the game seeking redemption. The team’s persistence paid off when Abdulwahab Olaniyi scored the winning goal two minutes into the second half, catching the Solution FC goalkeeper off guard.
Despite the visitors’ efforts to equalize, ABS held on to secure their first win in four games.
Coach Sani Ahmed Sarduana expressed his delight with the win, stating, “It’s a massive win, bringing relief after four consecutive losses. Beating such a tough opponent shows our team’s character. Although we still have some lapses to work on, I’m very happy.”
Coach Sarduana attributed the win to the team’s newfound unity and focus on defense. “We’ve decided to play as a unit, identifying our weaknesses and working to prevent conceding goals.”
