Doha, Qatar, played host to the prestigious The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024, which saw the biggest names in football gather to honor the outstanding achievements of the past year.
Aitana Bonmatí
Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmatí was named The Best FIFA Women’s Playefor the second consecutive year. The 26-year-old had an incredible 12 months, winning a domestic treble and the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Barcelona, as well as the UEFA Women’s Nations League with Spain.
“I am grateful to receive this award,” said Bonmatí. “It was a great year, very difficult to repeat. I am grateful to the people who help me to be better every day.”
Vinícius Júnior, the 24-year-old Real Madrid and Brazil forward, succeeded Lionel Messi as The Best FIFA Men’s Player. He had a remarkable season with Real Madrid, scoring 24 goals in 39 competitive appearances and helping the club win a record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League title.

“I don’t even know where to begin,” said Vinícius Júnior. “It was so far away that it seemed impossible to get here. I was a kid who only played football barefoot on the streets of São Gonçalo.”
Other Winners Announced
The Best FIFA Men’s Coach award went to Carlo Ancelotti, who led Real Madrid to UEFA Champions League glory. “I’m really honored to receive this award,” said Ancelotti.
Emma Hayes was named The Best FIFA Women’s Coach after leading the US women’s national team to Olympic gold and Chelsea to the English domestic league title.
Aston Villa and Argentina keeper Emiliano Martínez won The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award, while Alyssa Naeher of the Chicago Red Stars and US women’s national team took home The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award.
Marta and Alejandro Garnacho Win Individual Goal Awards
Brazilian superstar Marta won the inaugural FIFA Marta Award for the best goal scored in women’s football. Her stunning strike against Jamaica on June 1, 2024, earned her the honor.
Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho won the FIFA Puskás Award for the best goal scored in men’s football. His sensational overhead kick against Everton in the Premier League in November 2023 earned him the award.
