The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has received request from Cameroonian football stakeholders to investigate Samuel Eto’o for alleged improper conduct in office.
Eto’o who is President of the Fédération Camerounaise de Football (“FECAFOOT”) was accused of different charges which CAF classified as ”Prima facie serious” will ensure the former Barcelona’s football club star face scrutiny by CAF.
The official CAF statement read in part, ”CAF has received written statements from several Cameroonian football stakeholders to look into and investigate certain alleged improper conduct by Mr. Samuel Eto’o who is President of the Fédération Camerounaise de Football (“FECAFOOT”).
“CAF is looking into these requests based on and in accordance with the CAF Statutes and Regulations. Whilst the allegations are prima facie serious, Mr. Samuel Eto’o is presumed to be innocent until an appropriate judicial body concludes otherwise.”
Eto’o who is Cameroon all time goalscorer became the President of FECAFOOT in December 2021 and less than two years into his administration he has been on a loggerhead with different stakeholders in his country.
CAF assures that “ no further announcement while the investigations are ongoing and will only make public statements when the proceedings have come to an end.”
