The Chairman Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2024 National Sports Festival, Hon. Bukola Olopade has assured that the committee will do everything humanly possible to ensure that the multi sports event becomes a reference point in the annals of sporting events in the country.
Hon. Olopade gave the assurance today after the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun Inaugurated the LOC ahead of the biennial event coming up in the Gateway State next year.
While speaking with the Media, Hon. Olopade, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, commended the governor for bidding and winning the rights to host, he also commended the governor for rewarding athletes who represented the state at the last National Sports Festival in Delta State.
He said the 16 Man LOC will hit the ground running, adding that the 2024 Gateway Games will be extremely glamorous, colourful and remarkable.
He said “Your Excellency, on behalf of other members of the committee who are the best brains in Nigerian Sports today, I gladly accept the offer to serve in this capacity”
“When the event takes centre stage in 2024, the world will stand to applaud the remarkable achievement we would record in Ogun State through the Sports Festival, we will put in our best to ensure that we deliver a top notch event in a remarkable way”
Earlier, the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun assured that the government will put in place facilities that will aid a seamless Sports Festival.
The governor who also disclosed that the festival is not all about the competition or performances noted that the state under his watch, is ready to showcase the talent, culture, potential and the unique sense of hospitality of the people in the state.
